Canine Adoption and Rescue League (CARL) a 501(c)(3) non-profit all breed, no-kill dog rescue and adoption organization, started in 1996. They made a lifetime commitment to rescue and save dogs in Ventura County! Since that time CARL has saved thousands of abused, unwanted, sick, abandoned and homeless dogs. We give medical care, meet their nutritional needs, training when needed,and loving care given by staff and volunteers alike. Every dog that enters our Kennel/Pet Care Center in Santa Paula is a priority! Dogs in our adoption program are placed in pre-screened, loving and secure homes.
We do this all by having our yearly CARL Pooch Parade, our biggest event, and fundraisers put on for us by supporting local businesses in Ventura County. We rely on donations and do not receive government, state, or city funding. We operate almost entirely by volunteers.
Last year, vet costs were $107,000, food $26,000, and adoption expenses $12,870. This does not include the everyday expenses to maintain the CARL Kennel and CARL Pet Care Center.
The CARL 2023 Pooch Parade after deducted expenses made $20,702. That was our first Pooch Parade since the COVID Pandemic! We’re looking forward to having more Sponsors and adding more vendors and nonprofits this year. Please help us reach our goal of $40,000+ this year!
